In this article, we’ll walk through the Case Search tool, which allows you to quickly find relevant case law based on a simple fact pattern or search criteria.
To get started, navigate to the StrongSuit platform and select Case Search from your home screen.
That will take you to the Case Search module.
From here, you can start by selecting Manage Jurisdictions to select the jurisdictions you want to search for case law.
You can search across either All, State, and Federal courts.
Once you’ve made your selections, just click the x on the top right and your selection will be saved.
You also have the option to use a Filtered Search, which allows you to add specific filters as needed.
Once selected, choose the filters you would like to apply to your case search. Once selected go back to the search.
Next, enter your simple fact pattern in the provided text box.
After the results load, you can scroll down to review the relevant case law, matched to your selected jurisdictions.
To explore a case in more detail, select the case. You will be taken to a page showing the key facts, holdings, legal analysis, and the full opinion.
You can view the full case text at any time by selecting View Full Case Text.
Authorities Search
You can also search for legal authorities in addition to case law. To do this, select Authorities at the top of the page.
Enter a legal citation in the provided text box and select Search Authorities to find related authorities.
The relevant citation will appear in the results below. Scroll down to view it, and select the citation to explore it in more detail.
